Malaria Impact (WHO)
According to the World Health Organization's 2024 World Malaria Report, Ghana recorded an estimated 6.6 million malaria cases in 2023, with over 5.6 million cases confirmed nationwide. Malaria still kills a child every minute worldwide, and infants and young children — who have not yet built resistance to the parasite carried by the Anopheles mosquito common across West Africa — remain among the hardest hit. Pregnant women and children under five continue to face the greatest risk from the disease.
