The Community's Healthcare Challenge

For decades, residents of Gboloo Kofi and neighbouring communities had limited access to essential healthcare services. Accessing medical care often meant travelling considerable distances, delaying treatment and placing pregnant women, children and vulnerable families at greater risk. The absence of a nearby health facility also affected preventive healthcare, including routine immunisation, maternal healthcare and malaria control.

Why We Intervened

At the Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation, we believe that strong communities are built on strong healthcare systems. Recognizing the pressing healthcare needs of Gboloo Kofi, we partnered with stakeholders to provide a modern healthcare facility that would improve access to quality primary healthcare while supporting national efforts to reduce the burden of malaria and other preventable diseases.

What We Built

Through the generosity of our donors and supporters, we constructed a modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to serve Gboloo Kofi and surrounding communities. The facility was officially commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Health Service on 11 July 2024 by our Founder and Chairperson, H.E. Mrs Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo. Designed to meet the healthcare needs of an estimated 30,000 residents, the facility provides an integrated approach to community healthcare.

The Impact on the Community

The CHPS compound has significantly improved healthcare accessibility for residents by bringing essential medical services closer to home.
The facility supports safe motherhood, strengthens malaria prevention efforts, promotes early diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and enhances the overall wellbeing of thousands of people within the catchment area. It also contributes to Ghana’s broader efforts to strengthen primary healthcare at the community level

Services The Facility Provides

The Gboloo Kofi CHPS Compound includes:

Outpatient consultation rooms

A maternity and labor ward

Child welfare and immunisation services

Voices from the Community

At the commissioning ceremony, community leaders expressed their appreciation to the Foundation for responding to a long-standing healthcare need.

Our Founder and Chairperson reaffirmed the Foundation’s belief that every community deserves access to quality healthcare and that sustainable investments in primary healthcare remain essential to improving national health outcomes.

Our Continued Commitment

The Gboloo Kofi CHPS Compound represents another important milestone in our journey to build healthier communities across Ghana.
We remain dedicated to partnering with communities, the Ghana Health Service, development partners and supporters to expand access to healthcare, strengthen malaria prevention initiatives and create lasting improvements in the lives of the people we serve. Together, we are building healthier communities—one facility, one family and one life at a time
